Brothers Inaki and Nico Williams Make History With Spain

Inaki and Nico Williams are heading to the World Cup with different teams

Bilbao forward Nico Williams has been included in Spain coach Luis Enrique's 26-man squad for the World Cup in Qatar. The 21-year-old winger, who also qualifies to play for Ghana, has earned his first call-up to the senior national team and will now join his brother Inaki in competing at the tournament.

Inaki, who plays for Athletic Bilbao, has been a regular for Spain in recent years and was part of the squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2020 European Championship. The brothers will now be aiming to help Spain to a first World Cup title since 2010.

Inaki and Nico Williams made history on Saturday when they became the first brothers in 17 years to score in the same Spanish LaLiga match. Inaki netted the opening goal in Athletic Bilbao's 3-2 win over Villarreal, before Nico added the second with a stunning solo effort.

The last brothers to score in the same LaLiga game were Gerard and Juli Lopez for Barcelona in 2005.
